KSA ranks 4th in World in Digital Services Index : With a 25-rank jump in the UN E-Government Development Index 2024, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is now among the world’s leading nations. In the Digital Services Index, the Kingdom ranked fourth globally, first regionally, and second among the G20 countries. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Digital Government Authority and Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha, conveyed his gratitude and admiration to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, for their unwavering support of the government’s digital transformation and the technical and digital sectors.

He credited the Kingdom’s current position and leap in history to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Prime Minister’s support and empowerment. He went on to say that this support has led to digital leadership and superiority, which reflects Saudi Vision 2030 and strengthens the Kingdom’s position as a regional and global leader in the digital economy. He highlighted the Kingdom’s handle to continue its path of innovation-based economic transformation, leadership, and pioneering.

According to Eng. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Suwaian, Governor of the Digital Government Authority, the Kingdom’s continued progress in the United Nations E-Government Development Index is a result of the wise leadership’s support for the provision of excellent government digital services to all segments of beneficiaries. He also praised the digital government’s focus and follow-up under the executive programs of Saudi Vision 2030, which have had a significant impact on the advancement of the kingdom’s ranking in the index. These reforms and investments have improved the efficiency of joint work, promoted cooperation and integration among government agencies, adopted emerging technologies, and launched numerous digital initiatives and products.

The Kingdom has achieved this advanced position thanks to the efforts of the Digital Government Authority, which have been implemented in cooperation with all government agencies. The authority has been working to improve digital government services by adopting new technology, developing rules and guidelines, offering advisory programs, and encouraging future digital transformation leaders and competencies.

In terms of digital government, the report lauded Saudi Arabia for its impressive growth, bringing it to number six globally. Since Saudi Vision 2030 was launched, the kingdom has seen significant investments, rising 53 ranks in the Telecommunications Infrastructure Index (TII) and 31 ranks in the Human Capital Index (HCI), demonstrating remarkable progress. In addition to a total of 100% maturity in government digital regulations, 100% availability and sharing of open government data for citizens and business sectors, and 60 ranks advanced by Saudi Arabia in electronic participation and consultations directed to individuals and business sectors, the report also highlighted the Electronic Services Index (OSI) and the qualitative leap of 67 ranks to occupy the fourth rank globally in 2024.

The E-Government Development Index has been released every two years and has been one of the most significant worldwide indicators for over 20 years. As a result of the growth of digital governments among UN member states, it demonstrates the influence of structural reforms on productivity, efficiency, and the quality of the experience.
