Saudi Public Security to Expand 911 System Across All Regions
Public Security Director Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Bassami announced plans to expand the unified emergency reporting system (911) to all regions of Saudi Arabia in the future. Currently, the 911 system is only available in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province.
Speaking at the Absher Conference 2025 in Riyadh on Thursday, Al-Bassami said there is a strategic plan to launch a new application called “Maidan Al-Shamel.” This app will be developed from the existing “Maidan” application and will allow all security sectors to use it and access data from different Public Security platforms. He explained that the current Maidan platform is a unified security application used by field security officers across various sectors of the Saudi Ministry of Interior. It allows officers to access security databases and manage case procedures electronically. Only security personnel have access to the app.
Al-Bassami also praised the construction of a highly advanced police station in the Al-Salmaniyah district of Riyadh. He said this model will be expanded further in the capital. The next phase will see the construction of AI-powered police stations in Jeddah and the Eastern Province, leveraging advanced technology and artificial intelligence.
He noted that in 2025, Public Security platforms processed 189 million transactions and provided more than 322 services. These services are delivered through several platforms, including the 911 emergency system, Public Security portals, the Absher platform, the Amn platform, and the Maidan application, which currently offers 17 services. He also said work is ongoing to develop a drone management system for use in security operations. Most Viewed: Saudi Arabia scraps Expat levy for workers of Industrial sectors
Al-Bassami stressed that these platforms will continue to expand to support a fully smart security future. He highlighted efforts to equip public security personnel with mobile technologies, pointing to the smart mobile police station currently operating in Al-Sayahid, which can be deployed in any region across the Kingdom. He also confirmed that artificial intelligence is being integrated into all areas of Public Security.
He explained that Public Security has created a strategic plan aimed at delivering innovative and smart security services. This plan depends on a trained and experienced workforce, advanced technology, and accurate data to help decision-makers take fast and efficient actions. Most Viewed:
